Technology In The Classroom
We believe in using latest technologies to enhance teaching and learning. We use smart boards and on-line international teaching platforms to enhance children’s understanding, attainment and assessment. And to ensure our children can compare and compete with international standards of performance.
Library
The school maintains a well-stocked Library as well as an e-library; with an ambience that is conducive for research. There are also class libraries to encourage pupils to read.
Music Room
Music (classical and contemporary) is loved and encouraged at Basil. We have various types of musical instruments (foreign and traditional instruments), and pupils are encouraged to learn at least an instrument, join the school band or choir.
Creative Arts Room
Here, the pupils are taught to express their thoughts pictorially and creative designs in all mediums are encouraged.
ICT Laboratory
Our school is noted for IT excellence. We have a standard ICT laboratory with educational software and internet connectivity which are used by pupils throughout the schools. By Basic 6, our pupils will have the skills and confidence required to use ICT appropriately and effectively.
Throughout the school, cross-curricular links with all subjects, in particular, literacy and numeracy are encouraged to support the children’s learning.
Science Laboratory
Basil is a STEM school, that is Science is encouraged in Basil and the children have access to a well -equipped science lab.
The Playgrounds
We have separately designated playgrounds for each group so that the children feel secure and can explore their own space.
The playgrounds are child friendly and safe. There are always at least four members of staff on playground duty.
Tuck Shop
The school pupils can have freshly baked healthy snacks in the company of their friends at the school’s pleasant tuck shop area.
Buses
The school has several buses covering various routes. Each bus is accompanied by a support staff who ensures the children are individually handed over to someone in their homes during drop off.
Security
We have secure perimeter fences around the sites and the gates are kept closed at all times and manned by uniformed security guards. CCTV protection is also used in and around the buildings; there are strict procedures about collecting children at closing time in order to ensure the safety of the children.
Before and after School Care
Parents wishing to get to work early can drop their children as early as 7am at the school. The school runs a breakfast club for children who come early.
Also, there is After- School Care for children who are collected late. The club is open till 6 pm. After school care offers children care, meals, and homework time and keeps them usefully occupied till they are collected.
Holiday Clubs
During school holidays parents can register their children in the Holiday clubs. Summer school is also available during the long vacation in July.
School excursions to local and international destinations are also offered to students during Easter and summer holidays.
